Royal Challengers Bangalore has registered a thrilling win over Sunrisers Hyderabad by 4 wickets at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore on Saturday.
Royal Challengers Bangalore won the toss and elected to field first. After being put in to bat, Bangalore started off pretty well as their openers Wriddhiman Saha and Martin Guptill added 26 runs in 4.3 overs. However, Saha fell for 20 while Guptill departed for 30. Their in-form batsman Manish Pandey also failed to impress and got out for 9. However, Guptill’s dismissal brought Kane Williamson in the crease. His arrival changed the way of the game. He along with Vijay Shankar tried to steady the ship. Williamson smashed 70* off 43, including 5 boundaries and 4 sixes and Shankar scored 27 off 18. Their efforts powered Hyderabad to a decent total of 175-7 after 20 overs.
Chasing 176, Bangalore required a flying start which their openers Parthiv Patel and Virat Kohli failed to provide with. Both the openers got out within the power play for 0 and 16 respectively. AB de Villiers also failed to impress with the bat. However, the pressure fell upon Shimron Hetmyer and Gurkeerat Singh Maan. They suddenly changed the pace, started hitting boundaries and sixes back-to-back. They resurrect the innings with their experienced batting. Hetmyer smashed a blistering 75 off 47 with 4 boundaries and 6 sixes while Gurkeerat Singh Maan scored a quickfire 65 off 48 with 8 boundaries and a six. The made the foundation of their win where Colin de Grandhomme and Washington Sundar failed to contribute. However, Umesh Yadav scored a 4-ball 9 with 2 boundaries and Bangalore won the game with four balls to spare.
