Delhi Capitals won the eliminator against Sunrisers Hyderabad to knock Sunrisers out of this IPL season. Delhi will face Chennai in the next match to find a place in the final against Mumbai on 12th May.
Hyderabad batting first saw too many scorers in 20s and 30s but didn’t find an anchor. Wriddhiman Saha was out soon in the beginning. But Martin Guptill played a good knock of 36 off 19 and was gone. Then appeared Manish Pandey (30 off 36), Kane Williamson (28 off 27), Vijay Shankar (25 off 11), Mohammad Nabi (20 off 13). All of them contributed but nobody took responsibility and Hyderabad could score 162/8. Delhi bowlers were brilliant from the beginning. They made sure that Hyderabad kept losing wickets at the regular intervals. Ishant Sharma and Keemo Paul ensured that SRH couldn’t utilize the death overs for quick runs. Paul took three wickets and Sharma took two.
Once Shikhar Dhawan was out Prithvi Shaw took the charge. But Shaw also went in the 11th over as he followed the captain, Shreyas Iyer (8) and DC at 87/3. Rishabh Pant was already there at the crease and took all the responsibility to carry the innings. His 49 off 21 balls actually took Delhi home although he was sent back by Bhuvneshwar Kumar in the 19th over. But the job was almost done by then. Delhi won this important match by two wickets with one ball to spare. Rashid Khan and Khaleel Ahmed tried their best to stop Delhi and took wickets each. Both at different point of time took back to back wickets and Pant was too good to be stopped and all efforts went in vain. Expectedly Rishabh Pant was awarded Man of the Match award and Delhi Capitals went a step closer to the final show of IPL 2019.
