The 53rd IPL match of this season was expectedly a one-sided one. Delhi Capitals won the match against Rajasthan Royals with utmost domination.
Batting First Rajasthan had a very low start. Not a single batter except Riyan Prayag could prove the worth. When Parag came into bat Rajasthan were already at 30-4 in just 5.2 overs. Prayag once again showed his maturity to score a calculative 50 off 49 balls. He hit four boundaries and two sixes in his journey. The second highest scorer from the team was Liam Livingstone who scored 14 off 13 deliveries. On the other hand, Delhi bowlers were outstanding with their spells. Axar Patel and Amit Mishra both took three wickets each. Apart from these two Trent Boult also scalped two wickets. The entire DC bowling squad made sure than Rajasthan betters do not get a chance to settle down. It is the maturity of Prayag that amidst this situation he kept his calm and carried the innings.
Chasing 115 was never going to be a tough task for Delhi Capitals. Still, they had their share of initial troubles to. Credit goes to Ish Sodhi and Shreyas Gopal. It was not easy to defend that low score. But they tried to. They were taking wickets of DC at regular intervals when Rishabh Pant emerged as the hero. He scored unbeaten 53 off 38 and ensured the victory for his team. His innings had two fours and five sixes. Next, to him, it was Shikhar Dhawan who scored only 16 off 12. Sodhi took the wickets of Prithvi Shaw, Shikhar Dhawan, and Colin Ingram to finish with a figure of 3.1-1-26-3. Gopal took care of Shreyas Gopal and Sherfane Rutherford and finished with 4-0-21-2. There were times when Delhi seemed to struggle. But Pant took the charge thankfully and saved his team from a low score defeat.
