Sourav Ganguly, the former Indian cricket captain has been appointed as an advisor of Delhi Capitals, previously Delhi Daredevils for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2019 season. With IPL beginning on March 23, Delhi wil be facing Mumbai Indians on March 24 to begin their journey at Wangkhede Stadium.
Ganguly Will Share Dressing Room With Kaif & Ponting
Delhi Capitals took to their twitter account to announce this and welcomed Ganguly. They wrote, "Tigers, say hello to our Royal Bengal Tiger! We're delighted to welcome @SGanguly99 to Delhi Capitals, in the role of an Advisor."
Sourav Ganguly was the captain of Kolkata Knight Riders in the inaugural IPL season in 2008. He played for the Kolkata-based franchise till 2012. Then Gautam Gambhir was handed over the responsibility and he went on to win two IPL titles for Kolkata Knight Riders. On the other hand, Delhi Capitals has never played IPL final. Delhi has been one of the most inconsistent teams in the history of IPL.
Earlier, Delhi Capitals appointed Mohammad Kaif as their assistant coach. Ganguly and Kaif will be joining former Australia Captain Ricky Ponting to make a strategy for Delhi.
