Jasprit Bumrah’s injury seems to become a serious headache for Mumbai India. He is likely to miss Mumbai Indians’ away match in Bangalore on Thursday against Royal Challengers Bangalore.

The Story
Jasprit Bumrah developed a left shoulder injury during Mi’s first IPL match of the season against Delhi Capitals on Sunday. It happened off the last ball of Delhi’s innings. Bumrah tried to stop the ball with his left hand but he couldn’t. Instead, he clutched his left shoulder in pain. As a result, Mumbai Camp didn’t send him to bat during the chase. Post the match, MI gave an impression that the bowler’s injury wasn’t that serious.

But with Mumbai Indians traveling to Bangalore for the next match, Bumrah stayed back.  “Bumrah is in Mumbai along with team physio Nitin Patel continuing with the assessment. His recovery is on track and fortunately no sign on stress,” shared an MI spokesperson. Although the support staff believes that the injury isn’t too serious and Bumrah will be recovered soon, Mumbai is likely to rest him for the next two matches, in Bangalore and Mohali.

Importance Of World Cup
With World Cup approaching in two months time and Bumrah being an important member this seems to be a precautionary step. BCCI does not want franchises to put pressures on the Indian pacers during IPL because of the upcoming mega event in England.

Virat Kohli, the Indian skipper already said prior to IPL, “All the workload will be monitored and given a window, the guys can afford to rest. The World Cup comes every four years and we play IPL every year.” He further opined, “Not to say we won’t be committed to the IPL but we’ve got to be smart. We have to work in balance and make smart decisions. The responsibility and the onus being on the player. No one will be forced to do something. Eventually, no one wants to miss the World Cup and cost the team good balance.”

Even a source from Mumbai Indians franchise echoed the same thing. “Our physio has had a word with Patrick Farhat (Team India physio) and apprised him of the situation with Bumrah. We are following all the protocol in regards to Team India players. The team management will be kept informed at every step,” the source informed.
